End of Year Art Exhibition

The Art and Design students of Westport College of Further Education will hold their end of year exhibition on Wednesday 23rd May in Westport Library at 6pm and all are welcome.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Maureen O'Neill, Chairperson of the Greenway Artist Initiative. The students have completed a Fetac Level 5 Art and Design course and the exhibition will feature a selection of work undertaken- sculpture, combined materials, printmaking, drawing, batik and ceramics.

Professional Photography Class visit Venice

Sunday 25 - Thursday 29 March 2012

Best of luck and safe journey to a group of Professional Photography students who are currently on tour in Venice with tutor Felix Zaska.  The group flew out from Dublin airport yesterday, Sunday, and will return on Thursday, with no doubt, some fabulous shots from Venice and its surrounds.  Enjoy the trip and come back to us safely!

2012 All-Ireland Hairdressing Championships

Wesport CFE Hairdressing students a cut above the rest!

Hairdressing Coordinator, Heather Lynott Moore and her Level 6 students swept the boards the All-Ireland Hairdressing Championships in Cork on Monday, 5 March!  In the Fantasy on Mannequin Category, Trudy Coleman and Teresa Conroy came Joint 1st, while Bridie Moran and Lorna Quinn completed the podium finish by taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively.  In the Fantasy on Model Category, Suzanne Conroy came 2nd.  Each student created a Fantasy Hat using hair and their talents and creations clearly wowed the judges.  Congratulations to all our competitors and a big thank you and well done to Heather Lynott Moore also!  Maith sibh go leir!

Open Day 8th March

2pm-8pm

Our open day will be held on 8th March in the college from 2pm-8pm. Staff will be on hand to answer questions on all our courses including 

• Agriculture (Level 5)
• Furniture Design (Level 5)
• Advanced Computer Applications (Level 5)
• Art and Design (Level 5)
• Fire and Ambulance Service (including EFR and EMT) (Level 5)
• Hairdressing Level 5 and Level 6 (including Junior and Senior Trades)
• Photography Level 5 and Level 6
• Horticulture (Level 5)
• Motor Technology (Level 5)

We will be giving a range of demonstrations on the day. All are welcome

Night Classes

Enrolment

Enrolment for Night Classes takes place on Tuesday 31 January from 7-9pm.  The courses will commence the following Tuesday, 7 February, commencing at 7pm.  Applicants may apply early by contacting the College for an Application Form and returning the completed form, with the necessary fee, to the College before Tuesday, 31 January.  For a full list of courses, see http://www.westportcfe.ie/mainpage/ptcourse.
